Academic guests are visitors at the Technion and a employed for a limited period, according to a specific agreement, in the following ranks:
- Visiting Professor, including Distinguished Visiting Professor
- Visiting Associate Professor
- Visiting Scientist or Visiting Senior Lecturer
- Visiting Lecturer
The process for appointing guests is arranged in the Academic Regulations, paragraph 40, and it singles three kinds of visitors:
- Short period guests – guests who arrive for a period of up to one month. A form for inviting a short time guest is available in the portal.
- Long period guests – guests who arrive for a period of up to one year. Please fill a long period guest form and submit it with the necessary documents, as specified in the procedure for inviting guests.
- Long period guests – guests who arrive for a period of more than a year or who extend their visit for more than a year. Applications should be in the usual academic process (Senate Preparatory committee and Standing committee, as needed).
Maximum stay at the Technion as a guest – 6 years.
An academic guest may be employed with or without pay. Some guests, and Visiting Distinguished Professors, use an academic slot.
Funding for paid guests: The host staff member’s research funds, or partial payment from Technion funds such as the Lady Davis Foundation.
The administration of guests is handled by the dean’s office / faculty secretariat.
