The Technion Receives the Defense Minister’s Shield of Honor

The Technion has been awarded the 2025 Defense Minister’s Shield of Honor recognizing support of reservists.

Senior Vice President Professor Oded Rabinovitch in his role as Chair of the Forum of Rectors of the Council of University Heads (VERA), developed an academic adjustment plan for reservists that was adopted by over 50 academic institutions and received the support of the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Education, and the Knesset.

Technion President, Professor Uri Sivan, said: “The Defense Minister’s Shield of Honor is a recognition of the tremendous effort the Technion invests in supporting its reservists. It is first and foremost an expression of gratitude to our academic and administrative staff, and to the thousands of students who leave everything behind to report for reserve duty.”
